The Persieds
Every August our Earth plows directly into a cosmic river of comet
debris
left by Comet Swift-Tuttle and this is what causes the Perseid meteor shower. This year the best night is August 12th. As in the past, there will be
long hours of streaking meteors from around 2AM to dawn. Join Texas, dark sky
astronomers here at the San Domingo Ranch for this spectacular event. Bring your
own telescope or gaze the skies from our Celestron NexStar GPS telescope. Camp
out, bring your horses, enjoy the activities offered at the San Domingo Ranch or
visit many of the South Texas sites.
